This one was a challenge indeed — simple tends to be more difficult, don’t you think?

I’m not sure if I went too literal or not inventive enough this time, but as a subtle and modern quilt backing, I think I love it!

Here’s my Art vs. Artist 2024—showcasing some of the most meaningful designs for me this year:

1. The first pattern I created this year, also the first one uploaded to my new Spoonflower shop and the first to enter a design challenge. Let’s call it the icebreaker, the starting point—and that’s why it holds a special place in my heart.

2. One of my all-time favorites, from the first collection I designed this year.

3. My best-selling wallpaper design this year—this beautiful pattern from my second collection.

4. My best-selling fabric pattern of the year, featured by Spoonflower in their "Halloween Shop," the most favorited in my shop, and my highest placement in all the design challenges I participated in—my Cottagecore Halloween design.

5. Me! Hi there, I’m Sil!

6. The first pattern I fully hand-drew digitally, working with raster (instead of vector, which I’m used to) on my new graphic tablet. This marked the beginning of new techniques and learning experiences for me.

7. My very first Christmas pattern collection.

8. The most-pinned pattern from my Pinterest account.

9. One of the patterns I created for the Mocha Mousse Pantone Color of the Year design challenge.

⁠2024—this is where it all began. I took the leap into my new creative venture and accomplished so much along the way: opening my Spoonflower shop, creating new Instagram and Pinterest accounts, launching my website, and sending my very first pitches. I began exploring additional income sources and committed to developing new skills while learning from more experienced colleagues.

I’m truly grateful for what I’ve accomplished, especially considering I felt a bit lost at the beginning of the year. But by the end of April, I found my way. Here’s to continuing to improve, developing my art, and reaching more people who enjoy what I create. Thank you 2024!

* Reflecting on my journey in 2024 *

This year marks the start of a new chapter in my creative journey with the launch of my first pattern collections. While I had designed prints and patterns in the past for the fashion industry in my country, my path eventually shifted when I became a small business owner, running my own brick-and-mortar decoration and gift shop. Those years were deeply rewarding, as my shop was centered around design, but during that time I stopped creating designs myself.

When I made the decision to close my shop and embrace a lifestyle with more freedom, I rediscovered my love for pattern design. Returning to this passion feels like coming home, and I couldn’t be prouder of these first steps—even while knowing there’s so much room to grow. I can already see how my latest patterns have evolved compared to the earlier ones, and it’s a thrilling reminder that this is just the beginning.

This year has been all about practice, learning, and exploring new skills, and I’m genuinely excited about the progress I’ve made so far.

As I look to the future, I’m committed to drawing, learning, improving, dreaming, planning, and, most importantly, creating. Here’s to the journey ahead! ✨

A new floral pattern just added to my Spoonflower shop! Hand-drawn on my tablet, these flowers were originally meant to be blue... but I’ve been experimenting with the Pantone Color of the Year 2025, Mocha Mousse, and a lovely palette of related monochromatic tones. I think it turned out beautifully in these warm, earthy shades!

I’ve also been recoloring some of my favorite designs to match this gorgeous palette.

I've been busy updating metadata in my Spoonflower shop and adding new designs and plain colors to my existing collections. There’s still a bit more work to do, but I’m getting close to wrapping it up! Some of my designs were previously in very small scales, so I’ve added options with sizes more suitable for wallpaper as well.

I've been having fun mixing things up with stripes! I took the dotted details from the centers of the dandelions in my previous pattern and turned them into subtle dotted lines to add a little accent to the vertical stripes. Plus, I added some texture to give it more depth. What do you think? I’m really happy with how it turned out! It's a fresh, elegant stripe design that works perfectly for home decor and wallpaper—and I love how it pairs with the floral pattern for some interesting combinations!

I’ve recently joined @powersellersacademy, and I’ve been working behind the scenes to improve the visibility of my designs on @spoonflower! (work in progress really!)

Updating scales and metadata for previous patterns isn’t as fun as creating fresh artwork, but it’s a crucial step to help my designs stand out among the sea of patterns, so I'm on it!
